Wascana Park, Regina, Saskatchewan, CANADA

Wascana park is one of the largest urban parks in North America. It is located in the heart of the provincial capital city of Regina, which is located on the great plains of western Canada. In this park sits the provincial legislative buildings across the lake from the glockenspiel. Long ago Regina was also known as "pile o bones". It was here that the bleached white skeletons of the last buffalo of the great herds were piled. The park area now offers a venue for numerous winter and summer activities. This particular area within the park has a glockenspiel, which chimes all new years day. This wrinkle was taken in late afternoon as the light was getting dimmer and the park lights were coming on. The weather was mild being about -12 Celcius with a light snowfall. The glockenspiel can be seen atop the building nearby.
