Jan 31 - 2002 Test Panos
Construction Site - University of Regina | Saskatchewan Indian Federated College | Architect Douglas Cardinal
Camera nikon 990 | focus distance (0.54ft-0.63ft) |
I tried a few different distances for focus, despite Mikes ).18 meter suggestion.. I started with a 0.54ft focusing length and the coolpix set on the best possible shot (number 20)
The rest of the pano's are shot with the fine mode on and the distance was more like 0.63ft. I hadn't set the cameras unit choice to
metres, but I did later.

NOTES....

Jan31/
1. Updating photowarp with the latest version without trashing the preferences in the system folder (from the previous version) caused some difficulties in stitching. Basically, the intermediate plastic stage was not effectively removed from the unwarped pano....leaving it across the bottom of the pano. It took a few minutes of consideration to figure it out.
2. The red center mask that is now in photowarp might be a bit larger ( by just a bit). I am still getting a small amount of the intermediate plate showing after unwarping.
3. The architects that walked the site with me were very interested in what the panoramas were going to be like. They thought they were useful even though they had their 3d cad setups to rely upon.
4. I had some difficulty with the lense going from the cold outside (minus 35 celcius) to the above zero work area inside. The lense on the rig of course frosted over right away. Ice actually built up on the lense. I know this is an unusual shooting situation. Is it possible to make a lense that doesn't allow condensation on it?
5. It's obvious that a monopod or tripod are needed for the indoor shots most of the time. I just couldn't hold the camera still enough.
6. I had some difficulties as posted to the betatest list that doing certain actions would crash photowarp. i.e. trying to load .xml files back into the application.
7. Add my request for some type of levelling device viewable as you sit/stand beneath the camera.
