Museum of Natural History | Regina
Saskatchewan CANADA
March 2, 2002
These shots were taken with a Coolpix 990.
They were shot using the fine level of quality which yielded a 1 Mb
photowarp file to be unwarped and saved in QuickTime format.
The fnished panoramas were about 500Kb to 800 Kb.
The lighting in the museum was fairly low meaning that for the
apiture controlled shot shutter speeds were slow. So there is some
blurring of the shots as well as problems with quality in the panorama
I will be going to shoot these again and I will use the top setting next
time to get the best tiff file possible. Hopefully that will improve the panoramas.
What I learned from this is that the level of light is even more crucial with
these
one shot captures.
Con's
Low light shots on fine setting were pushing the limit of what is acceptable
for the size and quality of the panorama.
I set up my web design a bit awkwardly so it took me longer than normal to
actually get up this basic page.
Many grainy and hazy pano's.
Pro's
All these shots took me less than an hour to actually capture once I was on
site.
The processing took less than an hour to unwarp and save to file.
Make suggestions please. Though I will be redoing these again with
the better settings.
| 780 Kb Not bad I could live with this but its still pretty big file size wise for the quality. I needed to use the highest setting me thinks. |
|
| 425 Kb Decent, except for the tour guide who wondered what the heck the rig was all about. I put the camera on "autopilot" and she walked up to it. Go figure! Aren't people funny :-) |
|
| 732 Kb drop in quality from previous. I had the output on medium quality in the 7 pixel per inch range. |
|
| 612 Kb Light was low. Output in the 6 pixel range with medium output. Lots of rgb pixelation. |
|
| 731 Kb Not bad. I think I see my kokum (grandmother) telling those kids a story. |
|
| 548 Kb Poor light again. RBG pixelation. I didn't know it but I needed a "sweat lodge" about then. |
|
| 525 Kb Decent shot. |
|
| 623 Kb I also did an object movie for this. Take a look and enjoy. Not saved as fast start. High resolution (1.8 Mb). Medium resolution.(660Kb) Light was still a problem. |
|
| 671 Kb Too much pixelation for the size. Again my fault for not choosing my highest setting. |
|
| 605 Kb Notice the smudges up by the lights. Not sure what's going on there. I cleaned the rig and plastic area and my lense quite well before all this. I noticed there were a few erratic things on the mirror, but its a beta rig so that will be attended to I assume. |
|
| 634 Kb Again usable but not quite what I would put up for display to tout my abilities. Darn I am beginning to look bad here :-) |
|
| 622 Kb Decent!! There was enough light. |
|
| 678 Kb On the verge of not enough light with my poor choice of settings. |
|
| Really Low Light, very very grainy. 931 Kb Not suitable for capture with a 3.3 mb digital on only the fine setting. |
|
| Same as above but on a higher output
setting. 1.6 Mb Still pretty awful. |
